The challenge
Giving recruiters the complete story during live calls
TalentHQ has built a reputation for specialist recruitment and talent advisory in Australia. As call volumes grew, the team wanted recruiters to have immediate, retrieval-ready context for candidates, clients and workflows while the conversation was still happening.
Information lived across the recruitment system, CRM, documents, emails, call notes and events from job boards, scheduling tools and the website. Each system worked in isolation, but pulling the complete, current picture in real time meant tab-hopping, waiting on searches and asking for a call-back.
TalentHQ needed a platform that unified state, events and unstructured notes, eliminated fragile synchronisation and indexing paths, and produced a trusted brief fast enough to keep a live conversation moving.

The solution
SelectiveDB and Selective Cloud unify context and keep pace with the conversation
TalentHQ chose Selective as the operational data platform for its live-call assistant. Using SelectiveDB under Selective Cloud, the team brings candidate profiles, client organisations, active roles, applications, interview stages, communications and consultant notes into one place designed for operational reads and retrieval.
For consultants, the experience is quiet. During a call, a brief assembles automatically—showing relevant history, current status and next actions—without detours into separate systems. SelectiveDB supports the workload with P95 read latency under 180 ms, and the complete AI-generated brief is delivered in approximately 1.8 seconds at P95.
Six isolated production deployments, replication across Australian availability zones, automated backup and point-in-time recovery, and automated failover keep the context service resilient. Scaling and maintenance are managed through Selective Cloud.

How it works
A resilient operational pattern for live recruiter context
- Define the context model and map candidate, client and workflow objects—profiles, organisations, roles, applications, interviews, interactions and notes—into SelectiveDB.
- Stand up six isolated production deployments with replication across Australian availability zones.
- Enable automated backups, point-in-time recovery and automated failover for live context services.
- Separate operational, event, retrieval, ingestion, reporting and evaluation workloads under Selective Cloud.
- Launch the live-call assistant and onboard additional context sources—reducing time to connect a new source by 68%.
The recruiter experience
An immediate, trusted brief that appears when the phone rings
The context experience meets consultants where they already work: on live calls and in daily handovers. As a conversation begins, a brief assembles in the background—summarising the person’s history, active roles and stages, the latest activity and notes, upcoming interviews, open actions and relevant preferences.
Because the brief is drawn from one operational record, there’s no detour into separate search tools or documents. Consultants keep the conversation moving and answer with confidence, reducing the need to place callers on hold or schedule a follow-up.
The same pattern supports meeting preparation, workflow handovers and internal research—giving teams consistent context without repeatedly piecing it together by hand.
Measurement
Availability, latency and efficiency measured where it matters
In production, the context service processes approximately 24,000 context requests per month and has achieved 99.99% measured monthly availability since the migration. Performance is consistent: SelectiveDB read latency is under 180 ms at P95, and the complete AI-generated brief is delivered in approximately 1.8 seconds at P95.
Efficiency gains are clear. TalentHQ recorded a 43% reduction in context-assembly time, 39% faster candidate and workflow triage and 37% fewer calls requiring a separate follow-up. On the engineering side, the team cut the time required to connect a new context source by 68%, reduced synchronisation and indexing alerts by 63% and removed approximately 14,000 lines of custom integration and indexing code.
The outcome
Live context at recruiter speed—with reliability to match
TalentHQ now delivers an immediate, trusted brief during live candidate and client conversations—achieving 99.99% monthly availability, P95 reads under 180 ms and approximately 1.8-second complete context delivery at P95 across roughly 24,000 monthly context requests.
Recruiters spend 43% less time assembling context, handle triage 39% faster and require 37% fewer holds or separate follow-ups. Operationally, onboarding new sources is 68% faster, synchronisation and indexing alerts are down 63% and around 14,000 lines of custom code have been removed.
The result is more than faster lookup. SelectiveDB and Selective Cloud give TalentHQ a resilient foundation to keep expanding context and improving response speed without rebuilding integrations.
